Water Rockets and Water Rocket Launchers

Water Rockets Look Great in Photos

With the help of my brother I was able to get some good photos of our water rockets. You would not believe how hard it is to get the timing down just right so you can get a photos of water rockets lifting off. It took us almost all afternoon to get enough usable photos and we were about to give up on the idea when we started to get our timing synced between the water rocket launcher release trigger and the shutter button on the camera.

The first photo is taken just at take off. you can see the jet stream of water shooting out of one of these water rockets is quite powerful.

In the picture to the left the aqua rocket is on its way and under its own power.

As water rockets pick up speed the stabilizer fins start to do their job and spin the rocket fuselage.

In this photo the H2O Rocket has just taken off and is accelerating as it starts to spin.

The water nozzle is spewing out the propulsion water at a very fast rate. In fact we had to reduce the air pressure our water rockets in order to slow down their rate of acceleration to the point that we could photograph them.

Photos of One of Our Favorite Little Water Rockets

These little liquid rockets can provide you with hours of fun. We even have some interesting shots that show the compressed gas escaping from the water rocket nozzle. To get the photo of the water rocket taking off with a trail of water we tried everything. From increasing the amount of water inside the fuselage to running on pure air before we came across the simple idea of just lowering the air pressure. We kept the water ratio normal but just did not pump the rocket up with as much air and this gave us slower launch times so we could get the rocket in the picture.
