Back When I was a kid I had a bunch of water rockets. My first one was a NASA Rocket look alike, It had a White long booster with a red section that held the parachute for the nose cone. The nose cone was a red see-through plastic reproduction of the Apollo space capsule and had three astronauts in white inside (you could see them through the plastic. I loved that capsule and had it long after my rocket booster was lost in some part of the tall grassy fields where I launched it.
I can remember that my grandfather would have to climb up on the roof to get the booster down as it had a tendency to shoot up and then be carried off by the wind. The water rocket kit came with a pump that you slid onto the nozzle of the booster which would hold it on there until I had finished pumping enough pressure into it. Then once I was ready to launch my little space ship I would pull on this red plastic "trigger" like thing and it would shoot up like a water powered missile. The kit also came with a little red funnel so you could pour the water easily into the booster.
The second water rocket I owned was a much smaller version of my other one, it had a white plastic base and a clear red plastic nose cone all in one unit that acted ad the booster. So it was a single stage craft, that flew higher since it did not have as much extra weight to push up. It also had much bigger stabilizer fins that helped it stay on course. I really enjoyed those water rockets and hope you do too.
Update: Since I wore this page I have started to look for these old water-powered space crafts in the local hobby shops. So far I can not seem to find them, but I will keep looking. If you happen to know where I can find them please let me know and I will post the information here on the web site.
